I'm back from Seattle. After taking the red eye from Saturday at 11:55PM arriving back home on sunday at 2:30PM, it took quite a toll on my sanity for two days. I'm finally better, however, I think there is still a part of me that is working off Seattle time.
It was sooo much fun though!!!!
I met some cool new people,
ate some GREAT food,
walked around a rain forrest in Olympia,
FUN!
I also got to meet fellow Etsian Fort Cloudy. Unfortunately, I was lame because it was the end of the week and I was exhausted. Sorry! But she's cool and it was my first Etsy encounter.
I have pictures. Want to see? Of course you do!
There are more pictures in my flickr account.
I'm ready to go back already.
I am trying a series of collage art turned magnets called socio-mags (title may vary).
I'm not sure if I like the title completely. The title of this series will probably change forever. Or until I am lazy and I don't want to worry about the title.
I am starting off with consumerism due to the recession (aka the economy is sucking balls) and the recent distribution of the rebate funds from the stimulus package.
I have been wanting to do a series on cosumerism but I didn't know how to go about it. I then started to gain a little interest in collage art which then somehow transformed (decepticon style) into my consumerism idea, into magnets and then into Socio-mags.
I really might be crazy
My first one is homage to upcoming mother's day consumerism.
(woman's face with flowers as they eyes, nose and mouth)
Used recycled flyer ads from different stores.
These series of magnets will all be available at my etsy store.
Enjoy!
I'm heading down to NYC this weekend.
first agenda is to Manhatten (west side) to visit some family
then to Brooklyn to visit a friend.
The friend is cool. As a birthday gift, she gave a "Cunt Coloring Book."
Yes its drawings of all kinds of vaginas to color in.
Educational with some color stimulation.
(unless you are color blind)
((not mocking the color blind!))
I've been pretty stagnent on ideas for shirts.
Maybe the trip to NYC will give me some new ideas.
I'm listening to Nirvana's Nevermind.
I haven't listen to that album in ages.
I liked Nirvana before Cobain decided the fame was too much/murdered (whatever you believe)
(its ok, I don't like Courtney Love either but I don't know if I believe it was murder)
But don't think I don't like Nirvana now. I still do.
My favorite track on this is probably Lithium.
This brings back lots of memories.
I can hear the crackling of the vinyl which makes it soo much better in my opinion.
I love listening to music on vinyl.
Anyway, someone from my job had a vinyl copy of the album (sound quality is much better than the CD version)
So I told him how much I love Nirvana and he said, oh I'll burn you a copy of the vinyl onto CD.
That man rocks!!!!!!
He's a very cool guy. Knows A LOT about music.
He has met lots of musicians from the Amherst, Northampton area such as Thurston Moore and Jay Mascis
I love the music scene up there in Mass. I think I need to move SOON!
Wait, why was I here? Oh yeah Self Portrait Thursday.
I also have a new shirt I'll be putting up on etsy soon.
